The international premiere in the Ural Ballet's repertoire is a fantasy based on the libretto of the forgotten ballets by Marius Petipa, choreographer who is considered the creator of the classical Russian ballet: the 200th anniversary of his birth was celebrated in 2018. The Order of the King is a journey, the characters of which set off on an expedition to the end of the world in search of beauty. Choreographer Vyacheslav Samodurov mentions: “My aim is to understand how a big ballet form can look today, whether it is possible to make a modern performance using the templates of Petipa’s extravagant ballets.” The new music was composed by the professor of the St. Petersburg Conservatory Anatoly Korolev who is considered to be one of the best Russian orchestral composers.
