The name of the play was given by Sextus Propertius, an ancient Roman poet. Four books of his elegies have survived to this day. The text of one of them was used by composer Alexey Sysoev, who wrote the music commissioned by the Ural Ballet. In the score for strings, synthesizer, percussion and phonogram, he introduced the parts of readers chanting the text of the Propertius and playing on typewriters — the residents of Yekaterinburg shared the devices for the production.
In the ballet of Slava Samodurov there are no hints of antiquity and no direct connection with the elegy of Propertius. Just as the music does not illustrate the verses, so the scene does not comment on the music, but enters into a complex reaction with it. The choreographer prefers concentrated movement, and each of the eleven members of the dance ensemble becomes a soloist.
