In my mind, the Snow Queen is not just a story of a boy, abducted by an evil fairy and carried away to the North Pole. Our ballet is about how easy it is to get out of touch with the loved ones, even if close to them. This performance is a journey: in search of her true self the central character embarks on a long journey, demonstrates courage and passes the test of darkness and cold. It is impossible to say where exactly Gerda is headed: the Snow Queen’s kingdom is not a specific destination on the map; it is inside of a person. We have created a colourful performance for children, which nevertheless will be interesting to the viewers of all ages: a good production for children is always multi-layered. I myself define this performance as a fairy-tale for children and also adults, who even perhaps themselves once visited the palace of the Snow Queen once.
